Why NightCut exists

NightCut is an evening without screens. ⟡Paper,⟡ ⟡conversation,⟡ ⟡wine⟡ and ⟡time.⟡ No experience required. No perfect artwork expected.

Some evenings deserve more than a screen.

The first gathering

Session 01 —
The First Cut

The first table was laid before anyone arrived — glasses poured in a row, candles lit, a stack of magazines nobody had opened yet.

By the last glass it had vanished under paper. Vogue and ArtReview cut to pieces, wax down the candlesticks, thread pulled through a finished page. Everyone left with the piece they made.

This evening has already happened. See what is next.

The table is set.

Two hands cutting a magazine spread with scissors on red velvet, beside a glass of red wine.
The evening slows to the speed of scissors.
Wine, candles and flowers arranged on the NightCut table.
Candles burn down. Conversation doesn't.
The NightCut table laid with magazines, paper and glasses.
By the last glass, the table is one big collage.

How an evening unfolds

The ritual

Arrive

A long shared table. Candles already burning, magazines already waiting.

Pour

A glass of wine. Phones away — not forbidden, just forgotten.

Cut

Tear, slice, arrange. Images find each other; you only need to notice.

Talk

Conversation drifts across the table — no networking, no name tags, no agenda.

Keep

You leave with the piece you made and an evening that didn't happen on a screen.

Before you ask

Questions

Do I need experience?

No. NightCut is not a class and nobody is grading the results. If you can hold scissors, you have everything you need.

Can I come alone?

Most people do. The table is shared, the group is small, and the evening is built so that introductions happen by themselves.

What is included?

Everything: curated magazines, books, paper, scissors and glue, plus wine and dinner. You arrive with nothing and leave with a finished collage.

How many people attend?

Ten. The table only holds ten, and we like it that way.

Can I keep my collage?

Yes — whatever you make is yours to take home.

Where does it take place?

At Fábrica Moderna in Marvila, Lisbon. Exact directions are sent after booking.

What language is the event in?

English and Portuguese — the table tends to find its own mix.
